Tribute to your Mother’s and Father’s

Mother’s Day (May 10) and Father’s Day (June 21) are fast approaching…. those days when we honor our parents, grandparents, and other loving, nurturing people in our lives, and remember those whom we have lost. It is also the time of year we, at Mobility Matters, reach out to our loyal donors who have so generously supported us in the past. Your donation during our annual Mother’s/Father’s Day Fundraising Campaign will serve at least two purposes: 1) honoring/memorializing someone you love, and 2) assisting us to help the seniors and veterans we serve who have no one but us to help them meet their mobility needs.

In addition to being a stepmother and grandmother, I have the pleasure of serving in another role at this time in my life. My stepsons and their children are all adults now, and I have found myself missing particularly my role as a grandmother to young children. As a result, I have become a BG (Bonus Grandma) to my younger friend’s children. Some of them still have living grandparents and others do not. I’m not trying to take someone else’s role…. I’m just extra! It is so much fun to be there for them at birthday parties and other milestone celebrations bringing not only gifts but my love and appreciation and pride in all they have accomplished. Of course, there is always my “wisdom” to share with their parents from my experience of decades of making both good and bad decisions, and as my bonus grandchildren get older…they can learn from me as well. These relationships add so much joy to my life, and I believe they feel the same!

I am asking you to remember and honor your parents and other precious members of your circle of family and friends who you are still blessed to have in your life as well as those who are living in your memories for Mother’s/Father’s Day this year by making a donation to Mobility Matters. Every day we help someone else’s mom or dad or other loved one continue to age in their own home safely and with quality of life. If the person you want to honor is living, I will send them a handwritten card to thank them for being so wonderful and meaningful to your life, and if they are gone, I will send you an acknowledgement and appreciation of your gift in memory of them. And…. if you are a mother or father… Happy Mother’s/Father’s Day to you!
